About Falak
Falak is a system of remembrance, rediscovery, and reconnection. Across time and space, Arab women in art and design have moved in quiet orbits, shaping worlds, creating languages of their own, and resisting erasure. Some left visible trails. Others faded into silence. Falak gathers what was scattered, maps what was hidden, and offers a way to see them together.
Neither archive nor static project, Falak is a living, evolving constellation. Guided by natural metaphors like dendrochronology, orbits, and astrolabes, it reimagines influence and legacy as interconnected rather than isolated. With 92 artists at its core, Falak creates a new coordinate system for Arab women’s contributions in art and design. It honors their presence, resilience, and brilliance across time.
Mission
To trace, honor, and illuminate the artistic legacies of Arab women across generations by creating a navigational system that redefines how influence, creativity, and history are seen and shared. Falak brings forward voices nearly forgotten and realigns them within a collective map that speaks of memory, motion, and meaning.
Vision
To shift the perception of Arab women in art and design from singular, overlooked figures to a dynamic, interconnected constellation of influence. Falak transforms how their stories are archived, understood, and celebrated. It envisions a future where every silent orbit is seen, and every light rekindled.
